REVIEW: Opera House presents ‘Schoolhouse Rock Live!’

Director Ron Chisholm really knows how to entertain. For “Schoolhouse Rock Live!” he has put together such a fabulous cast and crew that the fun simply flows nonstop. According to production stage manager Michelle Ponton, who is also the light-board operator, there is a certain amount of improvisation each night to reflect audience response. On Friday night only about a third of the audience seemed to know the songs—Gen X-ers from Saturday cartoons and children from the DVD version. This relatively small group, though, was enthusiastically uninhibited, and their exuberant response was contagious. The song “Three is a Magic Number” elicited audience answers to multiplication problems, and “Just a Bill” was a singalong.
